Pickles and Nemo.
Larry S. Potts, owner of Ariodante Contemporary Craft Gallery,
New Orleans, LA, died Monday, November 22, 1999 of heart failure
at his home. He was 42. Mr. Potts was born April 13, 1957 in
Washington, DC and raised in Atlanta, GA. He returned to
Washington after attending Georgia State University and worked
in the Schumacher Show Room of the Washington Design Center.
Potts was awarded a Roscoe Award for Design Excellence for his
carpet adaptations of Charles Adam architectural designs. He
moved to New Orleans just over nine years ago to open Ariodante
Gallery with his partner at that time, Michael A. Wise.
Ariodante is well-known New Orleans gallery featuring functional
objects of art created by American artisans. Larry's work as a
jeweler and miniature illustrator has been featured locally and
in Westport, CT. He was a generous supporter through his talents
and time of a variety of local causes including the Howling
Success of the LA SPCA, Dollars for Scholars and The Living Room
at MCC. Survivors include his companion, Rev. Dexter Brecht; his
mother, Mrs. Catherine M. Potts; a sister, Linda Potts Causey;
and three nieces. A Life Celebration was held Sunday, December
12, 1999 at 5pm at Ariodante, 535 Julia Street. A memorial fund
was established at MCC of Greater New Orleans.
